San Diego, CA – July 20, 2020 – Today, a coalition of San Diego County education advocates announced the formation of San Diego Schools, an advocacy group established to improve education in San Diego County. Advocates from San Diego Schools are attending public school board meetings in San Diego County to introduce the organization and raise awareness regarding the need for improved communication and access to information.
San Diego Schools has established a website at www.sandiegoschools.net which acts as a central hub for information, giving parents and students the ability to find answers and resolve problems. In addition, San Diego Schools is actively recruiting parent and community education activists to join their coalition. Interested parties can sign up to receive announcements regarding our upcoming events and activities.
“Our goal is to improve transparency, accountability, and equity in the school districts throughout San Diego County,” said Todd Maddison, co-founder of San Diego Schools.
“We hope to engage and educate parents in order to develop a more nuanced understanding of how education works in their community.”
There are many aspects of public education that are a mystery to the community, and San Diego Schools plans to provide relevant and timely information about education code and how it impacts policy and procedure in the almost 780 schools in 24 districts in San Diego County. Parents and students deserve access to information regarding the quality of their child’s educational opportunities. San Diego Schools advocates look forward to working with school districts in San Diego County toward that end. At San Diego Schools, our priority is putting students first.
